Abstract

This research paper examines Pakistan's gender equality legal framework in light of international sustainable development objectives. The research investigates the constitutional and legislative procedures that assure gender equality and women's empowerment in Pakistan and the gaps and obstacles in their implementation. The article explores Pakistan's success in enacting laws and policies to promote gender equality and the problems in their implementation. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer a framework for attaining gender equality and sustainable development in Pakistan, which is critical for women's and girls' empowerment. The article outlines notable advances achieved by Pakistan in promoting gender equality, such as the founding of the National Commission on the Status of Women and the approval of the National Action Plan for Human Rights. However, the report outlines the barriers to the execution of these laws, such as poor institutional structures, cultural and social norms, and insufficient resources. The study continues by underlining the need for a complete approach to gender equality in Pakistan, which includes legislative reforms, cultural and societal transformations, and gender-responsive budgeting. Pakistan can achieve sustainable development and enhance the welfare and empowerment of its residents by promoting gender equality.
